R&R Arrival at the Beach

So, I posted briefly earlier to say we were going to the beach while Scott was home for R&R. It was pretty cool when we first arrived there on Wednesday evening. Thankfully, each day was a little bit warmer than the day before. The girls were so excited to introduce Scott to "their beach". They showed him around the condo pointing out every. single. little. thing. about it.... at one point I even heard, "See Daddy, there is even a sink in here (while pointing to the bar sink in the living room). They showed him where they sleep and where to put his bags, where we'd eat our meals, and not a single square inch of the place was left out.

On our first morning there we bundled up in the bikes with our beach blankets towels and went out riding. Biking is one of the girls' favorite things to do on Hilton Head Island. Since this was Scott's first trip, we really did a whole lot of looking around and exploring. We found a couple of neat spots that I'll post about later with pictures, but on the first day we simply headed for the beach.

Kate and Maggie *for those who can't tell them apart*

We had great fun playing in the sand and making up new rules with Daddy, such as, no matter how cold the temperature of the air or water, you can't go to the beach without putting your feet in the ocean.
The fun ended somewhat abruptly that day as we attempted to have our snack there at the beach. The seagulls (I guess?) were apparently very, very hungry and attacked us for our peanut butter crackers as soon as they were all dispensed. The girls were terrified and Scott and I ended up having to throw crackers as far away from us as we could to get the birds to move on. On the bright side, I doubt I'll have trouble convincing the girls to go in for snacks while at the beach from now on. More catch up R&R posts tomorrow...

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Tell your husband thank you for his service. My husband has deployed, but it has always been for short trips. Glad to see you were able to get some together during his break.

I love the picture of Scott walking with the girls. I am so glad you guys had a good time and got some real quality time in while he was home. Praying that the months pass quickly until he is home for good.
