Smells Like Money

In our very rural neck of the woods, it seems it is the time of year for spreading chicken litter on all the pastures and fields. Considering we are surrounded by beautiful pasture land, the smell of late has not been the greatest around here.

Yesterday afternoon Maggie got out of the car at Nanny and Pop C.'s and said, "Ewww, Mimi, I smell yours shicken houses..... gross!" She spent the next several minutes holding her nose before running along and playing with everyone else.

I remember saying the same thing growing up about the dairy barn, chicken, and hog farm smells here, and someone (usually mom or dad) was always quick to point out, "Smells like money to me." However, I'm pretty sure Maggie doesn't like the smell of money....

Whenever it stinks around here, Raegan will ask anyone that comes over if they smell it. If they say yes then she proceeds to inform them that "it's just chicken poop." The joys of living out in the country.

Seriously, that sounds lovely to me. Well, the living in the country part, not the smelly part!

That is so funny! I love the picture with her holding her nose. I have spent days at the zoo with Jessa holding her nose the whole day! So Jess is with Maggie on this one!

Funny! That smell now reminds me I'm home and it doesn't bother me anymore!
