Saturday's Are for Hiking

Knowing there was a great chance of rain coming in this afternoon, Scott and I decided we could either stay here at home with the girls and wait for the impending rainy afternoon or we could get out and make the most of our time before the rain hit. So this morning we went out and enjoyed ourselves, we sure did! The girls were little troopers... we hiked at Raven Cliff's Falls without any strollers or carriers of any kind. With all four girls walking by themselves (occasionally holding hands with us when we walked up or down steep spots) we made it ~ 1/4 of a mile in before noticing a light rain while crossing a bridge. We turned around and scooped up the little three and ran back a couple hundred feet before the rain stopped. They each insisted on being put back down to "do it self" and "no hold hand" for the rest of the way.

They tripped on roots and such a couple of times, but Sarah was the only one who actually kissed the ground.... and yes, that is blood on her forehead and dirt all over her face.

We sat them down for a quick picture before coming off the trail... dirt, blood, and all. The rain had stopped at that point, but by the time we made it to the parking area it was raining again.

We are blessed to live in a place where we have literally hundreds of beautiful options for enjoying the great outdoors this time of year, and we're trying to make the most of all of them. The added bonus to the fun we had this morning was that all the exercise the girls got made for extra wonderful naps in the rain this afternoon.

The photos aren't showing up for me. Is it just me? Sounds like a whole lotta fun.

Oh Poor Sarah! I was glad to read that it was mostly dirt on her face.
